Elham Ghrbanpour, ISA
Born and raised in Tabriz, Azerbaijan (a region with a rich shared cultural heritage between Iran and Russia), Elham grew up in a family of collectors and dealers with deep roots in the world of Persian and Russian antiques. This early exposure along with her achievement of the highest distinction as a first-degree Metal Artist from the Ministry of Art and Heritage ignited her lifelong fascination with art and craftsmanship, driving her to specialize in the intricate study of valuable art objects and decorative items.
Her connections with art and antique collectors led her to join the ISA. She has worked with individuals, galleries, auction houses, and insurance companies. To expand her knowledge, Elham earned a certificate in “the art of buying and selling art in auction” from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in New York and completed a practical “ Inside the Auction House” course with Christie’s Education at Christie's Auction House in New York. She has also studied Islamic art with the Aga Khan Museum's education program and collaborated with the museum as an educator.
In early 2024, Elham founded the Modern East Contemporary Art (MECA) gallery. This art hub offers valuation, appraisal, and archiving services for contemporary fine and decorative art from the Middle East, Russia, and Eastern Europe. The gallery also represents local and immigrant artists from the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Asia, serving as a space for collectors and investors of Eastern art.
