Carolyn Law is owner of Carolyn Law Antiques LLC in Sycamore, Illinois, providing personal property appraisals and related services to individuals, institutions, and the antiques trade in northern Illinois and Chicagoland. She researches and appraises all types of antiques, furnishings, Americana, and fine and decorative arts. Her particular area of expertise is silver and silver-plated domestic ware. She is a member of the Silver Society (U.K.) and has published several articles on sterling silver and appraisal practice in Silver Magazine (U.S.).

She has completed training in professional appraisal practice, USPAP, and ethics and maintains membership in good standing in the International Society of Appraisers (ISA).

Carolyn has a background spanning 30 years in higher education, scholarly research, public speaking, and publishing. She has a master’s degree and doctoral coursework in literature and interdisciplinary arts, focusing on Modernism, the 20th-century avant-garde, and the theory and history of aesthetic movements.
