About

Steve Roach is an appraiser based in Washington, DC and Baltimore, Maryland. He is an expert in rare coins and medals with expertise in European and American paintings, sculpture, prints and drawings. 

He has published more than 1,000 articles and newspaper stories on rare coins and his opinions on the rare coin market have been sought by numerous publications and media outlets including the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, BBC, Business Week, Smithsonian Magazine and others. He has experience in a variety of challenging appraisal projects, from valuing individual collections, institutional holdings for public museums and private foundations, and entire coin shops.

Steve's taught courses for the American Numismatic Association Summer Seminar at the Colorado College on rare coin grading, coin writing and authentication. He is certified by the The Appraisal Foundation's Appraisers Qualifications Board to teach 7-hour and 15-hour USPAP courses and has taught both of these classes for the ISA. He is also a co-instructor for ISA's Fine Art courses.
