Sue McGovern-Huffman, President of Sands of Time Appraisals, is an independent appraiser, art dealer, lecturer, writer and consultant, specializing in ancient cultures and intangible digital property. Born in Sydney, Australia she has been involved in ancient art, specializing in Greek, Roman, Egyptian, and Holy Land antiquities since 1975. She also owned a small consultancy company providing information technology solutions to Australian state and federal members of the judiciary, Supreme Court of NSW and Victoria first instance and appellate courts, the High Court of Australia, the legal profession as well as legislative bodies concerned with the Australian legal system, manufacturing and distribution and project management.
Sue owns and operates a private gallery, Sands of Time Antiquities located in the historic district of Georgetown, DC. She is also actively involved in software development, the latest being AppraisalBase, an intuitive turnkey database solution for collectors and appraisers.
Sue’s extensive market-related experience includes travel to domestic and international markets and regular attendance of the leading antiquity auctions in New York, London and continental Europe.
In addition to attending auction and special show offerings, Sue further provides active appraisal work. She has completed appraisals for insurance coverage, estate tax calculation, non-cash charitable contributions, and property division. She has managed large scale appraisal and consulting assignments for market value conclusions.
