About
Greer Simonton has been an Accredited Member of the International Society of Appraisers since 2001 and is certified in Antique and Decorative Arts Appraisal Studies at George Washington University, Washington, DC. In addition to completing all required appraiser Principles of Valuation coursework, he completed 130 hours of study in antique and decorative arts connoisseurship at GWU. Additionally, Greer has passed the national Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices examination required by the Appraisal Foundation and abides by the Ethics Codes of USPAP.
Also, he has also studied antiques at The Williamsburg Institute, The Charleston Art & Antiques Forum, The du Pont Winterthur Museum for American Decorative Arts in Delaware and The Tennessee Decorative Arts Symposium.
He was invited to serve on the Decorative Arts Acquisition Committee of The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art and is a member and past board member of the Decorative Arts Trust. Greer also served as president of the Mid South Chapter of the ISA. He wrote a monthly column on antiques for the Memphis daily newspaper, The Commercial Appeal for three years.
He holds a Masters and Bachelors degree.
