About
Kathleen is an assistant professor of Public Administration in the Political Science Department at Texas Tech University. She earned a BA in art and architectural histories, an MBA in marketing and arts management, an MA in modern art, connoisseurship and the history of the art market, and a PhD in public administration - producing a dissertation that explored the role of state funding mechanisms in the ecology of arts and culture nonprofits. This academic training is complemented by professional experience at the Smithsonian Institution, Butterfield’s and Sotheby’s auction houses and as an independent appraiser of fine arts for more than fifteen years.
