I am honored and excited to step into the role of Director of Education for the International Society of Appraisers (ISA).
This opportunity is both a privilege and a responsibility, one that allows me to help shape the future of professional education within our esteemed organization. Like other instructors, I have been inspired by the foundation laid by my predecessors, Judith Martin, Meredith Meuwly and Leon Castner. Under these past Directors, ISA’s educational offerings flourished, becoming a hallmark of excellence and a resource for appraisers worldwide. Over the past three years, Judith Martin’s commitment to ISA and her enthusiasm for knowledge-sharing have left a permanent mark on the ISA community. I am grateful for her leadership and mentorship, and I aim to build on her legacy.
Looking ahead, my vision is to ensure that education remains at the heart of ISA’s mission. In an ever-changing appraisal landscape, it is imperative that our members have access to the latest tools, knowledge, and training to navigate complexities with confidence and professionalism. My focus will be on three key priorities:
1. Innovative Learning Opportunities
We will explore new formats and technologies to make our educational programs more accessible and engaging. From interactive webinars to advanced connoisseurship courses, the goal is to ensure that learning is dynamic and adaptable to diverse needs.
2. Expanding the Curriculum
As the appraisal profession evolves, so do the demands placed upon appraisers. We will continue to develop courses that address emerging trends, specialized markets, and new guidelines, ensuring our members are equipped with current knowledge and skills.
3. Strengthening Community and Collaboration
Education is not just about acquiring knowledge; it’s about building connections. By fostering collaboration among our members through shared learning experiences, we can strengthen the sense of community that makes ISA so unique.
The ISA’s educational mission is more than just professional development—it’s about empowering our appraisers to excel and to elevate the standards of our profession globally. I am thrilled to embark on this journey with all of you, and I look forward to your ideas, feedback, and partnership as we take ISA’s education to new heights.
Thank you for your trust and support. Let’s build the future of ISA education together!
