About

I am the owner of Heidi Vaughan Fine Art, a client-focused art gallery and consulting company designed to manage the long-term needs of art collectors at all levels, offering primary and secondary market art sales, valuation, brokerage, appraisal services, assistance with art acquisition, and art collection management. I have personally evaluated thousands of works of art on behalf of corporate, institutional, and private clients. In addition to my appraisal and valuation services, I can recommend experts in matters of framing, art conservation, and restoration. I also work with specialist partners to liquidate entire high-end estates in the Houston area.

My fine art appraisal reports provide support for estate and financial planning, asset management, insurance needs, damage and loss claims, charitable donations, equitable distribution, and potential sales. My reports are compliant with the 2020-2023 Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices, an organization established by Congress to determine ethical guidelines for professional appraisal reporting. For charitable donations of works of art exceeding $5,000 in value, my appraisal reports comply with standards determined by the IRS for Form 8283. For less formal needs, I offer simpler valuation services for various uses.

I serve as the Chairman of the Houston Arts Foundation, a nonprofit founded in 1965 dedicated to providing for the conservation of dozens of Houston's most iconic public works of art. I also am an art historian and have worked in a professional capacity with major art museums in Texas, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Blaffer Art Museum, the Byzantine Fresco Chapel Museum, formerly part of the Menil Collection, and the Martin Museum. In addition to art sales, brokering, research, writing, and valuation projects, I am involved in exhibition production, curation, and I jury shows. Art book development also is a passion.

With my Co-Host Mister McKinney, I can be heard weekly on the The Houston Hour which airs every Tuesday at noon on KPFT 90.1, a Pacifica public radio station in Houston. Each one hour episode is devoted to interviewing important people involved in the arts, culture, and history of Houston. I also consult on art values for the television show Pawn Stars with Rick Harrison on The History Channel.

Through ongoing engagement with the International Society of Appraisers and The Appraisal Foundation's Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices programs, I follow the highest professional standards in appraisal writing.
