About

I am a Cultural Anthropologist whose focus is on North American Indigenous peoples and have extensive experience in the museum and heritage sector. Since 1997 I have been working with material cultural collections; cultural property management; and material culture protocol (handling standards and procedures, documentation, and cultural property value assessment). My interest in personal property appraising stems from my experience with museum donations and acquisitions, the appraisal services available to museums, and my desire to be able to provide the museum community with a professional, reliable, knowledgeable, and 'museum-trained' personal property appraiser.

I perform appraisals for the Royal Alberta Museum, the University of Alberta Human Ecology Anne Lambert Clothing Collection, the University of Alberta Museums & Collections Services, Alberta's museum community, not-for-profit business communities, Edmonton and Area Antique Malls, the public at large, and offer my services as a guest appraiser for charity events.  

I joined the International Society of Appraisers in 2014, completed my Re-qualification in November 2020, my AM designation in 2022 & am current on my USPAP (2022-2023). I absolutely enjoy working with museums, am interested and continually learning about contemporary issues that affect cultural material designations and assessments, and the protection and repatriation of North American indigenous material.

When I am not appraising, I enjoy textile work, family time with my grand children and my spouse, visiting historic sites on our Harley Davidsons, life on the lake, gardening and making home-made preserves.
