Those looking from the outside may view Lyn Huck’s work as simply discovering valuables and selling them to the highest bidder. However, the true value in the work that Lyn does comes from her ability to successfully navigate the delicate and personal task of selling and determining the value of one’s estate.
Emotions and personal attachments are part of the business, and Lyn thrives on striking the perfect balance of empathy and professional expertise to deal with the challenging task of deciding what to do with an estate that likely took a lifetime to build.
For Lyn, what started as assisting with estate sales while looking for a new career, grew into a business of managing multiple sales per month. Realizing that family members and homeowners were faced with the task of liquidating the contents of a family member’s home, she started Lyn Huck Estate Sales in 2004. Later this grew into Lyn Huck Estate and Appraisal Services.
Lyn is an appraiser through the International Society of Appraisers and continues her education through ongoing classes, conferences and webinars. She has also completed the Uniform Standard of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP) course.
Not all estate sales are created equal, and Lyn is quick to point out what families should look for when seeking for professional estate sale help. As with all industries, client needs vary, and finding services that best fit is an integral part of the process. Even when Lyn is unable to conduct the sale, she is available for guidance to ensure that a successful estate sale can be executed fairly and professionally.
Lyn has been featured on the Houston ABC television affiliate, as well as the Live Well Network for her work with estate sales. She was also invited to Chicago to speak on a panel discussion at the 2013 International Society of Appraisers (ISA) Conference.
Outside of her business, Lyn is active in the community and enjoys memberships in ISA, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Menil Society, and the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.
