About

Art has always been my passion, first as an artist exploring different mediums and genres, continually expanding self through creative means. Later, academics broadened my knowledge and appreciation of art history and cultures. At the University of Hawaii, I immersed myself in ethnographic arts and received a master’s degree in Pacific and Asian art history. Shortly after leaving the Islands, I moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico where I joined a network of tribal art experts and enthusiasts. Several notable individuals in that network became mentors, sharing with me their broad knowledge of African, Oceanic, Native American, and Southeast Asian art.

In 2006 I started my own business, Art Collection Services (ACS). I established the business to provide private collectors with properly documented art collections for insurance and security purposes. The desire to become an art appraiser was for me a natural progression by expanding my expertise in evaluating and appreciating art as well as providing a more complete business service.

I joined the International Society of Appraisers (ISA) in 2019 at the insistence of several tribal art collectors in need of an appraiser with an understanding of their unique collecting habits.

I am a specialist appraiser in cultural arts from Africa, Oceania, Southeast Asia, and the Americas, as well as Spanish Colonial art. Specialities include Australian Aboriginal art: historic and contemporary, Buddhist and animistic art from Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand and Laos, as well as Taiwanese aboriginal art, and tribal art from Melanesian region of New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and beyond.

As an accredited member of the International Society of Appraiser (ISA), I have completed the rigorous core course work and the specialty studies program in Asian art. I am also up to date with The Appraisal Foundation’s Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).

My educational background, experience, and specialty knowledge of tribal and folk art is a unique combination for collectors requiring appraisals for charitable donation, insurance coverage, estate planning and probate settlement. I also have experience appraising modern and contemporary paintings and sculpture, as well as Japanese and Chinese art. Don’t hesitate to contact me for more information.

I look forward to helping you with your cherished collections. For more information: https://www.artresourceconnections.com/art-appraisal
