The story is fiction, but it shines a (dramatic) light on the predicament of individuals who become wards due to mental incapacity, inability to care for themselves, addiction, or disability.

The Appraisal Foundation’s Appraisal Standards Board announced on August 11, 2022, that it was extending the current USPAP another year through the end of 2023. The next published edition will be effective January 1, 2024.
