This course examined various forms of screens and paintings in Asian art, including Tibetan, Chinese, Korean and Japanese examples. Topics covered were description information, what to ask the client, the effect of condition problems, where to search for artist and value information and other aspects of connoisseurship and appraisal. Written exam passed.

California State University San Bernardino, Palm Desert Campus, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, “Art, Celebrity and Fame”, instructor Robert Brasier, deputy director, Education and public Programs, Palm Springs Art Museum. Tracing the role artists have played in the advancement of the images of famous people from ruler and politicians to stage and screen. Course traces the history of this phenomenon through the examination of selected figures and artists throughout history, including those connected to the Pharaohs of Dynastic Egypt, Ancient Greece, and the Medici Renaissance.
