Paul Myson started his career in 1994 working as a cataloguer for an international auction house. Paul moved to Cape Town in the early 2000s and was employed by Ashbey's Galleries, one of the oldest fine art and antique auction houses in South Africa.

After nearly 10 years as the lead auctioneer/appraiser he opened his own auction house, Provenance Auction House. He brought online bidding to South Africa using the portal. Auctions were themed and focused on cultivating long term relationships with new and seasoned auction attendees.

In 2016 Paul, having left the rostrum and gavel started undertaking valuations full time. Paul has undertaken valuations for fair market value and replacement cost purposes of fine art and antiques, as well as heritage assets for some of the most prestigious collections both locally and internationally. He has been responsible for cataloguing monthly fine art and antiques auctions. Conducting Antiques Road Shows, Lectures to insurance brokers and investment consultants as to current market trends relating to fine art and antiques. He has appeared on television for the History Channel as advisor and guess consultant for Pawn Stars South Africa.

Paul is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and the International Fine Art and Antiques Appraisers Association.

He is a professional member of the International Gemological Society
