Pamela Kachurin, PhD, ISA AM  is the Owner and Principal Appraiser at PJK Fine Arts, a consulting company devoted to Fine Art located in the Research Triangle area in North Carolina. In this role, she:

* appraises and valuates Fine Art, including Painting,
   Photography, Prints, and Sculpture

* manages all aspects of the appraisal process, including
site visits, research, valuation, and the drafting of
   appraisal reports.

* places her clients' works of art into appropriate venues in
which to sell their art, such as Galleries and Auction

Dr. Kachurin earned her Ph.D. in the History of Art and Architecture, and has more than 30 years of fine arts research experience. She has spent many years working in art galleries and museums, where she handled sales, exhibition installation, and de-accessioning works of art. A big believer in demystifying the art market and the art world, Pamela explains the process of art appraisal to each client in the clear and straightforward manner that she has honed while teaching at the university level at Duke and Harvard. Pamela regularly lectures on the Smithsonian Institution’s trips to Russia and Eastern Europe.

The published results of Dr. Kachurin's scholarly research has appeared in numerous academic journals, including The Journal of Cold War Studies, Russian Review, and Modernism/modernity. She is also the author of Designing the Modern Utopia (2006), an illustrated catalog to an art exhibition that she curated for the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Her book, Making Modernism Soviet: The Russian Avant-Garde in the Early Soviet Era 1918-1928 (2013), was a finalist for the Historia Nova Prize for Best Book on Russian Intellectual and Cultural History.
