The International Society of Appraisers is delighted to announce that Judith Martin, ISA CAPP, (member since 1999) has been appointed as the next ISA Director of Education, effective January 1, 2022. Judith has been a Member of the Board of Directors from 2007-2012 and has served as President from 2009-2011. She has also served as Secretary for the Board of Directors from 2007-2009. Below is Judith's statement as the incoming Director of Education.
Dear Fellow Members of ISA,
First and foremost, I would like to thank the ISA Board of Directors for entrusting me with the Director of Education position for the International Society of Appraisers. I want to extend my congratulations to Meredith Meuwly ISA CAPP and her team of instructors for the outstanding work they have done under her leadership. Although Meredith will still be working with us in the education of our members, she is off to a great new opportunity and I wish her much success in her new position.
As ISA is a Sponsor of the Appraisal Foundation is it imperative that our education system supply our members with the means to meet the personal property qualifications criteria as set out by the Foundation. There is much to do as the Director along with the education team of instructors to keep the fine education supplied by ISA going forward. With our stellar group of instructors assisting me in the process of working on the courses supplied by ISA, I am sure we will keep our standard of excellence and professional learning strong and forward moving.
For those who do not know me, I have been involved with ISA for over 30 years and with the Education of our members for the past 25 years. I did take a sabbatical from teaching during my time as President of ISA and sometime afterwards to tend to family matters. But, I have never stopped working at my appraisal business, being active in ISA committees when needed and have never lapsed in my education updates. I have also always been available to any member who asked with help on an appraisal project with ideas, suggested directions for value research, and identification of items if needed. My true passion for appraising has never waned and my sharing of information with fellow professionals has always been a joy in my professional life.
The current team of instructors is worthy of accolades and appreciation. They uphold a gold standard set long ago by many past instructors; it is what ISA is known for, our outstanding instructors and education programs in all subjects we teach and present. If you are interested in being a part of the education team, please reach out to me directly. I will be reaching out to many of our members who have great expertise in specific subjects, have depth of knowledge in the appraisal process and searching our membership for those who might be interested in instructing our members in various course work.
As in the past, I am fortunate as I start this process to have a strong professional office to track and back up our members education activity. I look forward to working with each and everyone of them as I begin my new position.
I know I have big shoes to fill and will do my best to keep needed information coming to you as soon as available. This however should be a two way communication and I will appreciate any new programs you might attend, new published works that should be shared, or ideas you would like to bring forward. Through all my years of working with ISA, I have always known that there are members out there who have much to offer, so please drop me an email, send me a note, give me a call and help me keep our education the gold standard of our profession. I can be reached during office hours Monday – Friday at Directorofeducation@isa-appraisers.org
Happy Holidays,
Judith Martin, ISA CAPP
