Education: Professional Development and Certification Courses
The ISA is one of the few appraisal organizations that require members to take courses and pass tests before being admitted as full members. We also developed the first appraisal studies training based on a standardized body of knowledge. The ISA is committed to advancing the professionalism and effectiveness of personal property appraisers and offers a comprehensive professional development program. Our instructors are some of the most accomplished and knowledgeable professionals in the appraisal industry. Courses include:
- Core Course in Appraisal Studies—the complete appraisal methodology course for all personal property appraising
- Appraisal of Antiques and Residential Contents
- Appraisal of Fine Art
- Advanced Report Writing
- And many more
Also available are convenient webinars on topics ranging from Chinese Jade to American Furniture.
Networking: Build Relationships with Professionals
Membership offers many opportunities to connect with others in the appraising industry and helps expand your contacts, build relationships, and raise your visibility. Our annual conference brings together hundreds of professionals for four days of networking, courses, and seminars.
The online ISA Forum allows members to share knowledge and support their peers in the appraising community. We’re also on Facebook, Twitter, and have a regularly updated blog, ISA Now, that provides the latest news from the appraising industry.
Marketing: Raise Your Profile with “Find an Appraiser”
Many consumers begin their search for an appraiser online—our online Find an Appraiser directory is a fast, easy way for them to find members. Whether you have an online presence or not, our Find an Appraiser tool offers the opportunity to promote your services to an additional online audience. Also available on the website are resources for the public to help them make an educated decision when choosing an appraiser.
Simply being an ISA member and publicizing your status sets you apart—it shows you’re involved with a professional organization that adheres to a code of ethics and conduct.
