About

Donald King Cowan, ISA AM, a native of Fort Smith, Arkansas, is a Dallas antiques dealer, appraiser and estate liquidator specializing in American furniture, folk art and decorative accessories of the 18th and 19th centuries as well as Chinese Export porcelain.  An Accredited Member of the International Society of Appraisers, Cowan is the owner of New England Antiques and Interiors located in Snider Plaza Antiques and has written several appraisal columns for regional magazines and trade publications.  The founder of the Antiques Roundtable Seminar Series, which offers in-depth instruction in antiques and decorative arts, he also co-hosts the popular interactive appraisal program Tea Time Appraisal Fair with fellow appraiser C.L. “Sam” Webb, is a frequent guest speaker on American antiques and has taught continuing education courses on antiques and decorative arts for Southern Methodist University and Brookhaven College.   He is a past president of the North Texas Chapter of the International Society of Appraisers.

 

In addition to featured speaking engagements across the country, Cowan has conducted estate sales of noteworthy collections of American antiques for such clients as a former ambassador to Great Britain; a prominent world War II era four-star general; and a former member of Congress.  Cowan also helped appraise the Bybee Collection of 18th and 19th century Americana for the Dallas Museum of Art.
